The establishment of FDC Utilities, Inc. (FDCUI) marks the Filinvest group’s re-entry into the power market. The Filinvest Group has accumulated experience in the power industry since 1995 through the ownership of East Asia Power Corporation and, eventually, the Cebu Private Power Corporation from 1998 until 2000.

As the company brings electricity to potential growth circles in the Philippines, it endeavors to further enhance community development while enhancing synergy among the subsidiaries of the Filinvest group.

The firm successfully developed the FDC Misamis 3 x 135 MW Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Coal Thermal Plant located in Misamis Oriental. The power plant has a total capacity of 405 megawatts which greatly contributes to the stability of the Visayas and Mindanao grid.

In addition, FDCUI was awarded its Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) license in 2017 offering reliable, secure, and cost-effective power supply to Contestable Customers.

Furthermore, the company signed a joint venture agreement with ENGIE Services Philippines for the incorporation of the Filinvest-ENGIE Renewable Energy Enterprise, Inc. (FREE) aimed at pursuing solar energy projects.

FDCUI’s overall strategic goal is to achieve sustained growth through the next years to help the country achieve energy security. The company strives to put up multiple power generation projects across the Philippines and aims to have a balanced energy mix by 2027, 50% based on traditional energy sources and 50% based on renewable energy.
